Who created the universe? Who governs it? And where will this entire creation dissolve in the end?

The Guru–Disciple Dialogue in the Vishnu Purana
The central dialogue of the Vishnu Purana takes place between Sage Parashara and his disciple Sage Maitreya.
Maitreya had already studied the Vedas and scriptures. Even then, important questions remained alive in his mind. He asked how the world came into existence, where its elements originated, and where everything would go at the time of dissolution.
Sage Parashara answered through the principle of Vishnu. This original dialogue can also be read in the first chapter of the Vishnu Purana.
What Is the Source of Creation?
According to the Vishnu Purana, the ultimate cause of the universe is the Vishnu principle.
Here, Vishnu does not refer only to a particular form or image. Vishnu means that which pervades everything—the sustaining consciousness present throughout creation.
Krishna Guruji connects this principle with awareness. A tiny seed already contains the possibility of becoming a tree. When it receives soil, water, sunlight, and nourishment, it becomes a plant, then a tree, and eventually produces fruit and new seeds.
Creation is therefore not a straight line. It is a continuous cycle of manifestation, growth, and return.
Who Governs the Universe?
Nature operates through order, discipline, and balance. The sun follows its rhythm, birds return to their resting places, seasons change, seeds germinate, and life continues.
Even while we sleep, the heart beats and breathing continues. This sustaining order may be understood as the Vishnu principle.

Generator, Operator, and Destroyer
Three essential processes continue throughout creation:
- Brahma—the Generator: the principle that creates and brings forth a new form.
- Vishnu—the Operator: the principle that sustains, nourishes, and maintains order.
- Shiva—the Transformer: the principle that ends an old form so transformation can occur.
Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva are not opposing powers. They are three necessary functions of the same natural cycle.
Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva Within Us
This wisdom is not limited to the cosmos. It is also connected with everyday life.
When we develop a new idea, the creative principle becomes active within us. When we care for our family, work, or society, the sustaining principle operates through responsibility. When we leave an unhealthy habit or outdated thought, the transforming principle becomes active.
Krishna Guruji encourages us to recognize these divine functions within ourselves—not to create ego, but to accept responsibility for our actions and growth.
Consciousness and the Example of Electricity
Electricity is one, but its expressions are different. In a bulb it produces light, in a fan it produces motion, and in a television it creates sound and images.
The devices differ, but the source of energy remains one. In the same way, bodies and living forms are different, yet consciousness is the fundamental power that animates life.
When the life process of the body ends, the five elements gradually return to their original state.
How Will Creation End?
Dissolution does not only mean frightening destruction. It also means that a form returns to its source.
Water becomes vapor, then clouds, rain, rivers, and finally returns to the ocean. A seed becomes a tree, the tree bears fruit, and the fruit produces another seed.
Creation, preservation, and dissolution are therefore part of an eternal cycle of time.
The Message of the Vishnu Purana for Today’s Youth
Young people ask questions and do not want to accept every idea merely in the name of tradition. Questioning, however, is not opposed to spirituality. A sincere question can open the door to knowledge.
Sage Maitreya asked questions, and Sage Parashara answered them patiently. Curiosity therefore holds an honored place in India’s spiritual tradition.
Krishna Guruji seeks to carry this question-and-answer tradition forward so that seekers can explore karma, suffering, awareness, responsibility, and the challenges of modern life.
How Can We Align Life with Nature?
Begin by taking responsibility for your body and your time. Give importance to regular sleep, balanced food, and a healthy routine.
Use discernment in relation to desires and the senses. Ego, anger, and unhealthy competition can disturb awareness. Service, balance, and mindfulness, on the other hand, bring vitality to life.
Do not place the entire responsibility for a miracle on someone else. Awaken your own discernment, actions, and consciousness.

Kaliyug Purana and the Tradition of Questions
The Kaliyug Purana also explains life through questions and answers. Its purpose is not merely to repeat old answers, but to understand today’s questions through a logical and spiritual perspective.
Krishna Guruji plans to continue this dialogue after a concise study of the eighteen Puranas. It will address the realities of present-day life, pain, karma, and consciousness.
The Essential Message of the Vishnu Purana
Every form in creation changes, yet the fundamental law governing it continues to operate.
Human beings are part of the same nature and the same five elements. We should therefore recognize consciousness within ourselves: create with wisdom, sustain with responsibility, and release what is no longer useful.
This is the practical message of the Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva principles.
