International Yoga Day 2019: Yoga on the Cruise
June 21, 2019 marked a historic celebration of the 5th International Yoga Day when Krishna Guruji from Indore, India, led a unique yoga session not on land—but in the middle of the sea. Onboard the Carnival Imagination Cruise, traveling from Long Beach, USA to Mexico, people from across the globe gathered to experience the power of yoga amidst the waves.
This pre-planned event was formally communicated to the California Embassy in advance. Over 100 participants from various countries including the United States, Mexico, and India joined the session, transforming the cruise from a fun holiday destination into a spiritual space of inner calm and energy.
Krishna Guruji guided attendees through key yogic postures such as Tadasana (Palm Tree Pose) and Shikharasana (Peak Pose), explaining their benefits for posture, energy alignment, and mental clarity. The event received appreciation and emotional feedback from global attendees:
- Deepak Chauhan from Phoenix shared, “Doing yoga on Yoga Day brought back memories of India. It was emotional and powerful.”
- Krishnaveni from Seattle said, “It was my first yoga session, and I instantly felt an energetic shift in my body.”
- Vinita Bhatia from San Francisco declared, “I’ve taken a resolution to practice yoga regularly from now on.”
- Christina from New York added, “Yoga is magic—and the magic lives within us!”
This floating yoga celebration was not only a soulful experience but also served as a message to the world: Yoga is not confined to ashrams or studios—it flows freely wherever the breath flows.
