In the sacred conversation of the Uddhav Gita, when Uddhav asked Lord Krishna, “Who is a true friend?”, Krishna answered with divine clarity:

“A true friend is one who selflessly guides you towards your higher self, without expecting anything in return. One who uplifts your spirit, speaks the truth lovingly, and stands with you in both joy and sorrow — even in your absence.”

Krishna added, “A friend is someone who helps your soul evolve — not just someone who shares worldly pleasures with you.”

Inspired by this timeless wisdom, Krishna Guruji explains that the word ‘friend’ (मित्र) symbolizes more than companionship — it signifies “two bodies becoming one being.” True friendship is when two physical forms dissolve into a single purpose, one feeling, and a shared journey of growth.

Yet in today’s Kaliyug, where self-interest and social appearances dominate, finding such a pure and selfless friend is as rare as finding God Himself.

As Krishna Guruji writes in Kaliyug Puran:

“In this age of illusion and selfish ties, your only true friend is your own higher self. The one who listens to you in silence, feels your pain when no one is watching, and encourages you to heal and rise — is you.”

Guruji further emphasizes — if you hold commercial or financial interests in your friendships, you will never be able to sustain true companionship. Friendship demands purity, not profit. In today’s Kaliyug, it is easy to make friends, but hard to maintain friendship with integrity.

Talk to yourself today and reflect — how many of your childhood friends are still by your side? How many friendships have truly lasted? A friend who only appears on Friendship Day is not a real friend — it is merely a seasonal memory, not an eternal bond.

So on this Happy Friendship Day 2025, rather than seeking validation from temporary circles, become your own best friend. Talk to your soul. Celebrate your journey. And if you find someone who genuinely resonates with your spirit — honor them like a blessing.
