Why Do People Say That God Does Everything? – Kaliyug Puran by Krishna Guruji
In today’s world, we are conditioned from birth to believe that “God does everything”—that we are merely instruments. But is it true? Or is it a convenient belief to avoid taking responsibility for our own success and failure?
God or Karma: Who is Responsible?
This brings us to a timeless question: God or karma — who is responsible for our destiny? When someone succeeds, they often say, “It’s only by God’s grace.” But when they fail, they blame fate or bad luck. Why this contradiction? Let us explore this thought-provoking chapter from the Kaliyug Puran by Krishna Guruji.
The Story of Gyanchand
One day, Gyanchand came to Krishna Guruji and complained, “My fate is bad. My planets are unfavorable. Nothing is working out. Please give me a remedy.”
Guruji gave him a simple remedy, mainly to uplift his spirit. A few days later, Gyanchand returned happily, saying, “Guruji, your remedy worked! My problem is solved.”
Guruji smiled and said, “Earlier, you blamed your planets. Now that your work is done, you credit my remedy and divine blessings. Every day, thousands come to me. I give them the same remedy. Only 5% like you come back to say thank you and spread the word. But the remedy and the guidance remain the same for all.”
Understanding Belief in God
Rishis and sages introduced the concept of God through their deep spiritual insight. Our belief system is shaped by:
- Family upbringing
- Temples and rituals
- Mythological stories
- Fear and desire
A child naturally absorbs the language and beliefs of the home. As they grow, they accept what surrounds them—be it Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, or Sikhism—as the ultimate truth. This faith is rarely questioned.
Kaliyug and Karma: A Misunderstood Dynamic
In Kaliyug, people often ignore the importance of karma. While they praise God for success, they dismiss their own actions when things go wrong. Kaliyug and karma must be understood together to live a conscious, responsible life.
Reward and Punishment Model
In most religions, good deeds are rewarded by God, and bad actions attract punishment—often in the form of hell. People believe that praying or visiting temples will solve their problems. But Krishna Bhagwan clearly states in the Bhagavad Gita that 90% of people come to temples only to fulfill their desires or escape problems. Only a few come purely out of gratitude.
Faith in Kaliyug: A Shift Towards Business and Politics
Originally, faith was meant to connect us to the divine. But in Kaliyug, it has been commercialized. Now people are forced to believe that God—or Allah, Jesus, or Guru Granth—is doing everything, and must be followed without question.
Blind faith in Kaliyug is replacing self-effort. Religious institutions have become platforms for business, vote banks, and identity politics. As a result, humanity has suffered. The real enemy is not religion, but the manipulation of faith by a few organized groups who use it to dominate the masses.
A Metaphor: Life as a Car
When Gyanchand asked, “What should an ordinary person do?” Krishna Guruji responded with a beautiful analogy:
- Tyres: Your two hands and two feet
- Fuel: Your food and sleep
- Steering wheel: Your intellect (buddhi)
- Road: Your mind full of distractions like lust, anger, greed, and ego
- Driver: Your inner wisdom (vivek)
If your mind becomes entangled in these emotional potholes, your life—like a car—will crash. You cannot eliminate these distractions, but you can choose whether to indulge in them or stay alert. That control lies in your intellect, and the driver guiding it is your conscience.
Your vehicle’s mileage—your health and energy—depends on what you eat and how connected you are with nature. As the saying goes, “As is the food, so is the mind.”
Krishna Guruji Teachings on Responsibility
According to Krishna Guruji teachings, until you take full responsibility for your failures, and credit yourself for your successes, you will remain trapped in blind belief. Rishis attributed success to God not to diminish your effort but to cultivate surrender and reduce ego.
Today, people only want to claim credit—not blame. They seek quick fixes from temples, gurus, or astrologers. But you sent by God with complete potential. You have the power to be the ‘God’ in someone else’s life. Recognize that strength within.
